Wildfire smoke drifts into Bucks County from Joint Base in NJ

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey is conducting “backfire operations” west of Route 539 on Monday, which has resulted in a haze and odor in Bucks County and smoke blowing into Ocean County toward the shore.

A distinctive, smoky smell and an obvious haze could be seen over the skies of lower Bucks County late Monday afternoon.
