Months after sinkhole leaves residents homeless, they cry for help to come — faster

More than four months after a series of sinkholes tore up a Phillipsburg, New Jersey, neighborhood, the displaced residents of eight homes still don’t know when — or if — they’ll be allowed back inside.

Property owner Bill Ohlandt vented his frustration at last week’s town council meeting.

He’s dumped $14,000 worth of concrete into his Summit Avenue home to stabilize the foundation. He’s waiting for the sinkhole assessment by GZA GeoEnvironmental for the go-ahead to keep working on the home…
