Lehigh County Jail inmate’s suicide was the fifth in four years, suit says

A pair of Philadelphia attorneys blame Lehigh County Jail and its health care provider for failing to prevent the jail’s fifth inmate suicide in the past four years.

They represent the estate of 31-year-old Forest Touchberry, who died by suicide in the jail on March 6, 2025, the lawsuit says.

Guards should have known he intended to kill himself when he hung a bedsheet over his window, the suit says. The jail put Touchberry on lockdown but failed to check his cell within the mandatory 30-minute window, the suit says. It says Touchberry hung himself with a bed sheet and had re-hung the sheet covering the window before he died…
