‘He Dead’: Jury Convicts Allentown Man Of Murder After Text Message Revealed

A jury has convicted a Pennsylvania man of first-degree murder after prosecutors said a text message sent moments after a fatal shooting helped seal the case, authorities announced Friday, July 31.

Evander Thompson, now 32, was found guilty Thursday, July 30, of criminal homicide, first-degree murder, and carrying a firearm without a license in the killing of 58-year-old Orlando Ibanez following a three-day trial before Lehigh County Judge Robert L. Steinberg, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan.

Thompson now faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. His sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14…
