Historic barn in popular Lehigh Valley park getting restored with anonymous $750K donation

An anonymous Allentown family has donated $750,000 to the Allentown Parknership to fund the restoration of the historic Tack Barn in Lehigh Parkway, the organization announced last week.

The grant, described as a major milestone for the Allentown park system, will support structural stabilization, roof and masonry repairs, and adaptive reuse planning for the building, which was originally conveyed to the city in 1931 by Edward M. Young and Kate R. Young.

The structure has served various purposes over the decades, including storage of equestrian equipment, parks department meetings and community gatherings…
