Allen Township supervisors explore truck traffic restrictions at Savage Road warehouse

During their meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Allen Township Board of Supervisors explored traffic-calming measures that would restrict truck traffic generated by a Savage Road warehouse from using Atlas Road.

The 358,000-square-foot warehouse at 770 Savage Road, built in 2025, is available for lease. A 2023 Lehigh Valley Planning Commission study estimated that the property could generate 600 vehicle trips per day. Allen Township supervisors are now working to ensure truck traffic is directed toward Route 329 rather than Atlas Road.

A concrete pork-chop island has been proposed at the intersection of Savage and Atlas Roads. Similar to the one currently installed on East Bullshead Road, the pork-chop island would prevent trucks from turning right onto Atlas Road. Trucks leaving the facility would be required to turn right onto Savage Road and would then be forced to continue straight toward Route 329…
