With an earful, Bethlehem City Council backs new 527-space garage with room for mixed use

For the second time in eight days, Bethlehem City Council on Tuesday night listened to hours of arguments on the Walnut Street Parking Garage. In the end, the council voted 5-2 to reject its advisory board’s recommendation on how big the replacement should be for the garage currently being demolished. The council instead backed the Bethlehem Parking Authority’s proposal for a 527-space garage, estimated to cost $24 million.
