Behind the uniform: the history of Lehigh women in ROTC

For over 100 years, the Steel Battalion at Lehigh has helped train future officers of the U.S. Army. In Sept. 1919, when the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) was created, Lehigh was one of the first three schools in the country to establish an infantry unit. In 1925, an ordnance unit was added, and in 1947 the Corps of Engineers was added as well.
