New hotel with rooftop bar getting pitched in Bethlehem Lehigh Valley government watch

BETHLEHEM The city’s Historic Conservation Commission meets Monday and is expected to hear plans for a new hotel with rooftop restaurant in the South Side, according to the meeting agenda and planning documents submitted to the city. The plans call for “a 141-guestroom Tempo by Hilton, including a ground floor lobby restaurant & bar, meeting space, second-floor fitness center, and rooftop bar,” the documents says. The site, near the corner of Third and South New streets, is currently an abandoned apartment building and paved parking lot. “The current owner (Patriot Ventures, LLC) previously received approval for a new apartment development project (South Pointe Flats), including demolition of the existing abandoned apartment building, which will be the case for the new hotel project,” according to the planning documents. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at Town Hall, 10 E. Church St. It is open to the public and can also be watched remotely through the City of Bethlehem’s livestream feed.
