Burglar requests ransom for victim’s stolen jewelry, arrested

Phillipsburg, Pa. — A woman admitted to stealing from a man when she called him to ransom back his jewelry.

Taylor Chantel Slogosky, 33, Philipsburg stole jewelry, a crossbow, two shotguns, two rifles, five pistols, and medication from the home in the 700 block of Pauline Street, Trooper Brandon Murarik of PSP Rockview said. Slogosky allegedly called the victim, who was on vacation at the time of the burglary, and told him she participated and planned the break-in.

Police do not say if the victim and Slogosky knew each other before the burglary, or how she got the victim’s phone number.

Police were called to the home on Aug. 27 and met with a friend of the victim, according to the complaint. No forced entry was found at the home, but open drawers were discovered in all three bedrooms. A jewelry box was the only item known to be stolen at that time, Murarik wrote in his report.

Slogosky called the victim the following day, according to Murarik. She allegedly confessed to participating in the burglary. The victim wanted the jewelry back because it had sentimental value, Murarik said. Slogoski agreed to return the items for $500, Murarik added.
