62-year-old Lehigh Valley auto dealership has a new owner and a new name

A South Whitehall Township auto dealership has been sold to a Philadelphia area group and given a new name.

Daniels BMW was recently acquired by Sloane Auto Group, of Glenside, Montgomery County. A social media post Friday announced the dealership’s new name – Allentown BMW.

“The name is new. But our commitment to you remains,” the post said. “Now part of the Sloane Automotive Group, we’ve been serving the needs of automotive customers in east Pennsylvania for over 50 years.”

A manager from Allentown BMW was not immediately available for comment.

A sales price for the dealership at 4600 Crackersport Road, near the intersection of Routes 22 and 309, was not available.

Daniels opened its first showroom on Tilghman Street in 1962 as a Cadillac dealership. The company was awarded a BMW franchise in 1974.

The Crackersport Road location opened in 2005 as Daniels’ customer base grew. It included a collision center. A Mini dealership was added in 2010.

Sloane Automotive Group was founded in 1970 as Robert Sloane opened a Chevrolet dealership in northeast Philadelphia and Sloane Toyota in Glenside. It has nine dealerships with manufacturers including Honda, Toyota, BMW, Audi and Porsche.
