The date is October 1, 1774, and as the old television program used to say, “You Are There.” There are rumbles in New England about taxes and the Parliament in London is talking about raising more. But in Allentown, Pennsylvania, a village of roughly 55 largely German speaking residents, most still think of themselves as matter-of-factly loyal to the Crown. Many are farmers but already there are some shops for a few other needs folks might have.
