Rasheed Robinson Convicted of First-Degree Murder in Philadelphia, Sentenced to Life Without Parole

A Philadelphia jury has handed down a verdict of first-degree murder against Rasheed Robinson, in connection with the killing of 25-year-old Deja Lewis, as announced by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. Robinson, with a birth date of June 20, 1995, was also convicted of various firearms violations, along with possession of an instrument of crime. According to a statement from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Lewis’s body was found in her apartment on Napfle Street in October 2022, a day after an argument that led to her murder.

The case took a turn when investigators linked Robinson to the murder scene through ballistic evidence and cell phone data. Robinson had been staying with Lewis after he was implicated in the murder of her stepfather, for which there was an active arrest warrant at the time of Lewis’s death. The evidence was strong enough to not only arrest Robinson but also to ultimately convince a jury of his guilt. As per the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, District Attorney Larry Krasner praised Assistant District Attorney Josh Myers for his “skillful prosecution” and acknowledged the thorough investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department and the jury for their “just verdict.”…
