Juvenile was driving 100+ mph before fatal N.J. crash that killed 2, officials say

A juvenile was taken into custody Friday night on two counts of aggravated manslaughter after eluding a traffic stop and leading police on a high-speed chase through several Jersey Shore towns and eventually causing a fatal crash that killed two people, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

It’s unclear whether the unlicensed driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. The results of a court-ordered blood draw were still pending as of Saturday.

The juvenile, who does not possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license, was first observed by Toms River police at 10:45 p.m. Friday traveling eastbound over the Thomas A. Mathis Bridge at a high speed, officials said…
