CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – A bill is being reintroduced to remove DUI penalties for legal cannabis use that would protect hundreds of thousands of unimpaired drivers
State Representative Chris Rabb, who represents the 200th District in Philadelphia, is reintroducing the bill for the fourth time. He says that detectable traces of cannabis can linger in a person’s system for weeks, and for Pennsylvanians, they remain in danger of being wrongfully arrested and convicted of driving under the influence without any proof of impairment.
“They’re putting themselves at risk not because they’ll be driving impaired, but because law enforcement does not acknowledge the science, and the distinction between cannabis use and alcohol,” Rabb said.
