NORRISTOWN — A jury acquitted a man who listed addresses in Pennsburg and Hatfield Township of charges he illegally possessed a stolen gun while he was a passenger in a vehicle that police stopped in Hatfield during a traffic detail.
Jason Matthew Hill, 49, who listed addresses along the 1400 block of Quakertown Avenue in Pennsburg and along the 800 block of Vassar Drive in Hatfield Township, was acquitted of charges of carrying a firearm without a license and receiving stolen property in connection with the May 30, 2023, traffic stop in Hatfield Township of a vehicle in which Hill was a rear seat passenger.
Prosecutors alleged that a gun found on the floor of the vehicle during the stop was possessed by Hill. But with its verdict, the jury found that Hill was not in physical possession of the gun.
The jury, after deliberating about an hour after hearing testimony at a two-day trial, convicted Hill only of a minor misdemeanor charge of giving false identification to a law enforcement officer during the traffic stop.
