Tractor-trailer driver charged after hit-and-run on I-80

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after police say he hit a pedestrian on I-80 with his tractor-trailer , then fled the scene.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on March 21, troopers were called to Interstate 80 East at mile marker 257.1 in Butler Township for a crash involving a pedestrian.

On the scene, police stated they spoke with a driver who informed them that a tractor-trailer, driven by Aziz Bello, 50, of Allentown, had hit a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was identified as 53-year-old Israel Cruz, who was tending to a disabled vehicle on the right shoulder when Bello hit him, as stated in the affidavit.

The tractor-trailer driver who witnessed the incident pulled over along with Bello. Troopers say the two drivers spoke briefly about the incident, then Bello was seen looking at the victim, then getting back into the tractor-trailer and fleeing the scene…
