Tornado touch down confirmed in ‘Pennsylvania wilds’ region

ELK COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The U.S. National Weather Service in State College confirmed a tornado touched down in what’s referred to as the “Pennsylvania wilds” region.

The NWS said they reviewed Civil Air Patrol imagery that was taken over areas impacted by damage from the severe weather that went through Pennsylvania March 16. An EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Elk County with estimated peak winds of 100 miles per hour.

They noted the tornado touched down northeast of Saint Marys near East Branch Dam.

The tornado hit at 2:22 p.m. and traveled half a mile with a max width of 200 yards…
