Corrections officer charged with smuggling contraband inside SCI-Dallas

JACKSON TWP. — A corrections officer remained jailed Monday on allegations he picked up a package containing synthetic marijuana, a prescription drug with intentions to smuggle the items inside the State Correctional Institution at Dallas, Jackson Township.

Thomas Michael Wren, 37, of Nanticoke, was apprehended after he picked up the package outside a department store in Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, on Friday, according to court records.

Wren was a target of an investigation that began in March when agents with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Bureau of Investigations and Intelligence learned he had allegedly smuggled contraband inside SCI-Dallas for cash…
