Bill package aims to crack down on hate crimes in Pennsylvania

(WHTM) — A new bill package proposed by State Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa (D-Allegheny) aims to crack down on the rise of hate crimes in Pennsylvania.

The package’s memo, titled the Hate Crimes and Victims’ Rights Package , calls for strengthening the state’s laws to better prevent and address violent hate crimes.

Sen. Costa cites the 2018 Pittsburgh attacks at the Tree of Life building as reasons to pass the bill, as eleven people were murdered and numerous others were injured in the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in U.S. history…
