Residents displaced by Bethlehem fire may have to wait to go home, officials say

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – It may be a while before residents who were affected by Friday’s four-alarm fire at Southside’s Five 10 Flats will have the opportunity to go home.

“I don’t want to say it will be open in a couple of weeks. We don’t know that. We don’t know the extent (of damage) yet,” said Chief Building Inspector Mike Simonson.

In an update provided at the Bethlehem City Council meeting on Tuesday, Simonson said next steps for the building include assessments, working with insurance companies and property owners, and inspections…
