PPL officials monitoring grid, control centers in hopes of preventing heat-related issues

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — PPL said preparations for soaring temps, like these happen long before the thermometer goes up.

“So, some of the things we do first, we maintain our grid year-round, so we’re always looking to replace any aging equipment, trim trees and we really invest in smart grid switches,” said Dana Burns, director of communications with PPL Electric.
