This Lehigh Valley borough is becoming the region’s newest foodie hot spot

While it’s not an urban hub like Allentown, Bethlehem or Easton, Hellertown is growing into its own as a destination for foodies.

There’s restaurant weeks throughout the year and a new grant program to support borough businesses, but if you ask the people on the ground who opened in the Northampton County municipality in the last year or so, it really comes down to a welcoming, supporting atmosphere – and that makes for a wide variety of food and shopping choices, including the area’s newest bakery.

“It seems to be a positive growth from what I’ve seen,” said manager Evan McKee of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore location that opened in October at 38 Main St. “A lot of activity and certainly the … I don’t know, it’s got a really nice community atmosphere that I’m not used to and I’ve been really pleased by.”…
