Cops Arrest Driver in Stolen SUV Thanks to Red Light: Washington Twp., NJ, Police

  • Washington Twp. police stopped a vehicle after a red light violation
  • Officers discovered the SUV had been reported stolen from Philadelphia
  • The driver was taken into custody and later released pending court

Cops in Gloucester County were able to recover a stolen vehicle from Philadelphia all thanks to a red light.

And a driver who, apparently, doesn’t know the rules of the road.

Traffic Violation Sparks Investigation

The Washington Township Police Department in Gloucester County says that while on routine patrol, one of their officers saw a Nissan Xterra that was headed southbound on Route 42 disregard a red traffic light at Johnson Road.

Cops eventually caught up to the SUV further down the Black Horse Pike where they discovered it was stolen out of Philadelphia.

Driver Arrested Without Incident

During a high-risk traffic stop, the driver, 55-year-old Anthony P. Labarge, Jr., of Sicklerville, was taken into custody without incident.

Labarge was processed and released on a summons pending court proceedings…
