Lehigh Valley butcher shop wins 2 Grand Champion titles at 2025 Pennsylvania competition

A Lehigh County specialty butcher shop has earned prestigious recognition at Pennsylvania’s largest meat processing competition, taking home multiple awards including two grand championships.

Carey & Schnalzer Quality Meats, in New Tripoli, claimed top honors at the 2025 Pennsylvania Association of Meat Processors (PAMP) product competition held at Penn State. The whole animal butcher shop won Grand Champion titles in two categories: Specialty Fresh Sausage for their Pepper & Onion Sausage and Cured Specialty Meat Products for their Landjäger, a traditional German sausage.

“These state wins are a big deal for us,” said Scott Carey, founder of Carey & Schnalzer. “We set out to remind people that authenticity and traditional small batch butchering and sausage making still matters. Pepper & Onion is a staple in our shop, and Landjäger is old-world and smoky and extremely popular with our customers. It is nice to see them get recognition within the industry.”…
