An investigation following the death of a 45-year-old Emmaus man, who died after being involved in an confrontation with South Whitehall Township police at a grocery store, found officers involved were not responsible for the man’s death.
On Thursday, Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan said an investigation into the May 11, 2025, death of 45-year-old Timothy Vanbilliard of Emmaus, was not due to the actions police took while taking him into custody following an incident at a Weis grocery store along Cedar Crest Boulevard in South Whitehall Township.
Instead, Holihan noted, the county’s coroner’s office found Vanbilliard died of methamphetamine toxicity and “hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in the setting of law enforcement subdual and restraint.”…
