Historic Allentown building that was once the site of a Revolutionary War POW camp to get apartments

Ten years after first bring up the idea, a developer plans to add 20 apartments to a historic Allentown site that was once home to a a prisoner-of-war camp during the Revolutionary War.

Nat Hyman received variances Monday from the Allentown Zoning Hearing Board as part of a project to build 20 additional apartments in the historic complex in Center City.

Hyman plans to renovate a currently empty building on the property that already has The Bindery apartments at 347 W. Gordon St. near Jordan Creek. The two-story property was a book bindery for many years and before that a prisoner-of-war camp during the Revolutionary War…
