DA: Driver charged with homicide by vehicle after hitting pedestrian who was crossing the road

WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – Lehigh County authorities say a driver is charged after hitting a pedestrian who later died.

Etienne Theagene, 47, of Whitehall Township, is charged with homicide by vehicle, a third-degree felony; involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree misdemeanor; and summary charges of reckless driving, careless driving (unintentional death), maximum speed limits: 25 miles-per-hour in a residential district, and driving vehicle at safe speed, according to a news release from the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.

Theagene surrendered Thursday and was arraigned before District Judge Todd Hefflefinger, the DA’s office said…
