50 Years Later, Pennsylvania Cold Case Murder Still Unsolved — Police Offering $5,000 for Answers

Slatington, PA – Authorities are renewing efforts to solve the decades-old homicide of Richard Stewart Wimbish, a Philadelphia truck driver whose body was found in Trout Creek, Slatington Borough, on January 13, 1973.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop M, Criminal Investigation Assessment Unit, Wimbish, 49, had been shot to death and discovered by local youths wrapped in a sleeping bag along the creek in northern Lehigh County.

Investigators said Wimbish was last seen on December 29, 1972, leaving work at the Pennsylvania Trucking Company in Philadelphia. His normal delivery route included Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and Stroudsburg. He lived at Franklin Court Apartments in Philadelphia…
