Community discusses ways to tackle homelessness issue in Allentown, as people prepare to leave encampment along Jordan Creek

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The YMCA Warming Shelter in Allentown was packed with people and ideas on how to best help the Lehigh Valley homeless population, including 100 people living by the Jordan Creek who were told by the city earlier this month they had to move due to flooding concerns.

Immediately following the order to vacate, community officials worked together to raise enough money to open the warming station two months early.

But that will not address all of the needs of everyone in the encampment…
