Penalty against Lutron grows in patent infringement case

COOPERSBURG, Pa. – A Lehigh County lighting company’s penalty has grown as a lengthy patent infringement case finally winds down.

Earlier this month, Lutron Electronics, based in Coopersburg, was ordered to pay $5.95 million to South Carolina based GeigTech East Bay, a maker of window shades.

The order was part of a final judgement issued by Judge Colleen McMahon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. In June, Lutron was ordered to pay $5.3 million, but the new figure includes compounded interest…
