Hilltown hires new police officer, strengthens ties with fire companies

Hilltown Township supervisors approved the hiring of a new police officer and took steps to expand accountability with local fire companies during their Aug. 25 public meeting.

Officer Isaac Fries, a graduate of the Delaware County Police Academy, was sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage. Fries previously worked for the Macungie Police Department and will replace a Hilltown officer who retired earlier this year. Police Chief Christopher Engelhart said Fries was selected after a thorough search for the right candidate, according to the Bucks County Herald.

Supervisors also amended a township ordinance to require fire companies that receive municipal funding to submit annual reports detailing how the money is spent. Township Manager Deanna Ferry said the change will give officials a clearer picture of the departments’ financial needs…
