Phillipsburg officer named ‘Hometown Hero’ for stopping suspect in shooting outside daycare

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — Officer Brandon Hull of the Phillipsburg Police Department has been recognized as the final honoree in Congressman Tom Kean Jr.’s 2025 Law Enforcement Hometown Heroes program.

Earlier this year, Hull responded to a shooting outside a local daycare where nearly 20 rounds had been fired. According to Kean’s office, Hull identified a suspect attempting to flee the scene and, along with fellow officers, initiated a felony vehicle stop. The arrest led to the recovery of a handgun with an illegal extended magazine.
