Family-friendly pub set to breathe new life into Revolutionary War-era inn

LONGSWAMP TWP., Pa. – A new chapter – filled with tasty steaks, cocktails and other eats and drinks – is set to begin later this fall for a late-1700s building in the Alburtis area.

Maple Grove Pub & Grill, a family-friendly restaurant and bar offering casual American cuisine, is expected to open in mid-October at 2165 State St. in Longswamp Township, Berks County, co-owner Amanda Scheller said.

The full-service establishment, with bar and table seating for around 75 guests, will occupy a renovated building that previously housed The Inn at Maple Grove.

The stone structure is located just south of Alburtis and traces its origins to 1783, when it was constructed at the end of the Revolutionary War as a rest stop for travelers and stagecoaches making their way through the Lehigh Valley…
