Allentown awards $200K contract for consultant to develop climate action plan

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown City Council is one step closer to joining other major cities in the Lehigh Valley in developing a climate action plan.

Council voted unanimously Wednesday night to award a $200,000 contract to WSP USA Inc., Bethlehem, to assist the city with developing the plan.

City Clerk Michael Hanlon said the plan will include robust community outreach and education, an inventory of the existing greenhouse gas emissions, greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, prioritized emission reduction measured, climate adaption strategies and an outline of required resources and funding mechanisms to implement the plan…
