Newark’s Derrick Wyche Guilty Of Assaulting Bucks Co. Girl

Derrick Wyche, 58, of Newark, was found guilty on felony Indecent Assault Of A Person Less Than 13 Years Of Age and Felony Corruption Of Minors after a Bucks County jury returned its verdict on Wednesday, officials said. His jury trial began on Monday before Common Pleas Judge Charissa J. Liller. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date, according to the release.

The investigation began on Oct. 23, 2024, when the child’s mother met with Officer Amanda DeLuca at the Morrisville Borough Police Headquarters to report the abuse that happened in September at her home in the borough, authorities said.

A forensic interview was conducted at the Bucks County Children’s Advocacy Center. The girl told investigators she was lying on the downstairs couch falling asleep when Wyche sat beside her, placed a blanket over himself, grabbed her hand, and put it inside his pants until he heard someone coming down the stairs, according to the release.
