Pottstown men sent to prison for multiple illegal gun transfers

NORRISTOWN — Saying their conduct posed a danger to the public, a judge sentenced two Pottstown men to lengthy prison terms on charges they participated in multiple illegal gun transfers, activities that prosecutors alleged were linked to a gun trafficking network that had ties to Montgomery and Berks counties.

“The offenses here are of the utmost seriousness. Acts like these pose a danger to the community and the court cannot ignore that,” Montgomery County Judge Risa Vetri Ferman said as she sentenced Keith Michael “Shagy” Chaney and Desmond Tyon “Dez” Bennett, adding illegal gun transfers are “extremely dangerous.”
