Woman killed in Lancaster Co. horse and buggy crash, driver charged

A 33-year-old Mertztown man has been charged with vehicular homicide, DUI and related offenses following a crash involving a horse and buggy that happened on Jan. 7, 2026 in Salisbury Township, officials said.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Danial Miller, 33, of Mertztown, has been charged criminally after being involved in a crash along the 4000 block of Salisbury Township, in Lancaster County, on Wednesday that left a 65-year-old woman, who was in a horse-and-buggy, dead.

Investigators said that, on Wednesday, a Dodge Caravan, being operated by Miller, struck the rear of a horse and buggy traveling eastbound on Strasburg Road, causing the driver of the horse and buggy, a 65-year-old woman, to be thrown from the vehicle…
