State police still searching for killer in 2004 Carbon Co. homicide, $5,000 reward offered

CARBON CO. (WOLF) — Pennsylvania State Police are renewing their call for information in the unsolved killing of a Carbon County man, offering a $5,000 reward for tips that help bring the case to a close.

Troopers from PSP Troop N, Lehighton Barracks, say they continue to investigate the murder of 45-year-old Amandus Balliet, who was found stabbed to death inside his rented mobile home on Wintergreen Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

According to investigators, Balliet, who lived alone, was killed sometime between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. on September 12, 2004. Despite years of investigative efforts, the case remains unsolved…
