HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Catholic Church leaders issued guidance this week regarding Mass attendance ahead of the expected winter storm this weekend.
“Please know of my utmost concern for your safety,” said Bishop Timothy Senior of the Diocese of Harrisburg in a letter Thursday. “While the faithful are obliged to attend Holy Mass on Sundays and Holydays, the obligation presumes a person’s ability to reasonably fulfill it.”
Senior said the snowstorm is likely to affect Masses this Sunday and said that, “If a snow emergency is declared by state or local authorities, and/or road conditions are unsafe for travel, the obligation to attend Mass is clearly not in force.”…
