The McDonald’s customer accused of throwing hot tea on a Walnutport drive-thru worker now says he was scorched first by the hot water and responded with a “stupid” reaction, police say.
The 80-year-old man from Washington Township, Lehigh County, is charged with misdemeanor simple assault, summary harassment and summary disorderly conduct in connection with the Jan. 20 incident at the McDonald’s at 473 Main St. in Walnutport.
The man is awaiting a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled for 9:15 a.m. March 4 before District Judge Robert Hawke. Court records did not immediately show any attorney information for the defendant…
