Nicholas Sperando, 26, opened fire as a multi-agency task force breached the front door of a Fairdale Road residence tied to a multimillion-dollar drug trafficking organization, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.
As law enforcement announced their presence and used a ram to enter the home, a shot was fired from inside the residence, authorities said. Less than a minute later, a second round was fired through the front and storm doors, directly targeting the position where officers had been standing moments earlier.
Pennsylvania State Police troopers and agents with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office were in the direct line of fire alongside Bucks County Detectives, Bensalem Township Police, and Philadelphia Police, the release states.
