‘So thankful’: Following fire, Chinese restaurant reopens with remodeled kitchen, dining room

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A popular Chinese restaurant that was heavily damaged in a 2025 fire is welcoming back customers in Lehigh County.

Happy Garden, a fast-casual eatery offering Chinese specialties for dine-in, takeout and delivery, reopened on Feb. 4 at 501 N. Seventh St. in Allentown, manager Angie Gonzalez told 69 News.

The eatery had been temporarily closed since Dec. 4, when the business sustained extensive damage from a fire that started in a storage room at the rear portion of the building’s ground floor, Gonzalez said. An exact cause has not yet been determined, Gonzalez said.

Workers spent the past couple of months performing repairs and upgrades, which include new flooring, lighting, counters, kitchen equipment, signage and more, Gonzalez said…
