Bethlehem Area School District superintendent to retire after 40 years in education

Bethlehem Area School District Superintendent Jack Silva has announced his intention to retire, effective July 1, 2026, concluding a 40-year career in public education.

Silva has served as superintendent for the past three years. The 1982 alumnus of Bethlehem’s Liberty High School rose to the district’s top leadership role from assistant superintendent, under a five-year contract that began in July 2023 and was slated to run through June 2028.

Silva came to work for the Bethlehem Area School District in 2010 after 24 years in the Souderton Area School District, where he was a social studies teacher, assistant principal, principal and director of curriculum and instruction…
