Planning review for $3.5B Eli Lilly plant addresses traffic, environment in Lehigh Valley

Planning reviews have begun for the proposed $3.5 billion Eli Lilly pharmaceutical manufacturing facility that would create around 850 permanent jobs in Upper Macungie Township.

The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission last week approved a review to be sent to township officials for the complex totaling 797,432 square feet on approximately 150 acres of land at 8810-9802 Main St., Fogelsville.

The site, currently used for agriculture, is located just north of Interstate 78 and west of Fogelsville. The development is expected to create approximately 2,000 construction jobs as the facility is built…
