A sinkhole has closed a long stretch of a Slate Belt road, fire officials said.
Martins Creek Belvidere Highway is closed in both directions — from the first block of Church Hill Road at Route 611 to Hillendale Road — in Lower Mount Bethel Township, the township’s Sandt’s Eddy Fire Company posted on its Facebook page.
The area runs through a rural area near Three Church Hill Arts and the Historical Society’s Bell Tower Cultural Center. School buses from the Easton Area and Bangor Area school districts are expected to be taking alternate routes during the closure…
