Roswell continues commitment to build affordable housing

ROSWELL, Ga. — For the second straight year, Roswell is dedicating its annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) toward repaying a more than $2 million loan to redevelop the Pelfrey Pines Apartments.

The city has allocated its annual award of $443,594 as part of its five-year CDBG strategic plan, which prioritizes sustainable housing for residents. Although the affordable housing units are overseen by the Roswell Housing Authority, which is separate from the city, Roswell leveraged its government status to secure a Section 108 loan of $2.039 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 2023.

The $30 million project pulls from multiple funding sources, including $4.7 million from Georgia Department of Community Affairs, $3.3 million from the National Housing Trust Fund and $3.6 million from Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta’s TogetherATL initiative…
