South Cobb growth, aging roads drive transportation priorities

MABLETON — Rapid population growth, aging infrastructure and roadway safety are driving transportation priorities in south Cobb, Drew Raessler, director of the Cobb Department of Transportation, said during a transportation panel hosted by the Cobb Chamber’s South Cobb Area Council.

Speaking at the Riverside EpiCenter Wednesday, Raessler said south Cobb’s continued growth is increasing pressure on roads and transportation infrastructure, prompting the county to focus on maintaining existing assets, improving traffic flow and ensuring travelers reach their destinations safely.
