Dunwoody council set to approve Mount Vernon Road contract

DUNWOODY, Ga. β€” The Dunwoody City Council is set to award a $6.3 million contract for construction of the long-planned Mount Vernon Road and Tilly Mill Road improvement project. The project will replace aging infrastructure and improve safety for motorists and pedestrians along the busy corridor.

Public Works Director Michael Smith told the City Council June 15 that the project represents years of planning and will modernize aging infrastructure that is between 30 and 50 years old. Improvements between Mount Vernon Place and Jett Ferry include replacing existing gas and water mains, adding a second 16-inch water line to boost water pressure, installing new turn lanes at key intersections and upgrading stormwater systems.

β€œThe infrastructure on this section of Mount Vernon Road is really 30 to 50 years old, and essentially this project is improving the infrastructure for the 50 years,” Smith told the City Council June 15…
