Woodstock man facing murder charge in Weathington Road shooting

A Woodstock man wanted on a murder charge stemming from a May 24 incident that left a man with a shotgun wound to the stomach is in custody at the Floyd County Jail.

The victim, Christopher Daniel Freeland, 37, was taken to a local hospital where he underwent several surgeries. However, he succumbed to his injuries on Aug. 5, and the Floyd County coroner ruled his death a homicide.

The suspect, William Rogers Caver, 34, had been arrested on an aggravated assault charge following the shooting and subsequently released on bond. After Freeland’s death, a murder charge was filed against Caver. He was taken into custody Tuesday night at his mother’s house in Cherokee County…
